Each lesson consists of five main components: Lesson The pictures used to represent the letters are simple visual texts designed to encourage speaking and conversation. Introduction to a letter of the alphabet Here, the upper-case and lower-case letters are shown clearly together. One of the words introduced earlier is included here. Read with your child again. Guided example of writing the upper-case and lower-case letters Help your child trace the letters by following the numbered arrows. This will help your child become familiar with the lines that form the letters. Writing and reading exercises Writing helps a child recognise and remember letters and words. It will also increase their confidence to read. The ‘Theme’ at the end suggests a topic for discussion. Try using the ‘Sight words’, ‘High frequency words’ and ‘Vocabulary’ in your conversations with your child. Practise ‘Able to say’’. Additional activities to reinforce letter and word recognition Everyone needs practice! Practice allows a child to understand the practical use of his/her reading and writing skills.
